Topic Description:

The civil services preliminary examination, scheduled to be held on May 31, has been deferred due to the COVID-19-induced nationwide lockdown and the new date for the test will be decided later this month. The civil services examination is held annually in three stages, prelims, main and interview- by the commission to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS) among others. Lakhs of aspirants take the examination every year to be part of the coveted civil services. Meanwhile, the Staff Selection Commission, in a recent announcement, has informed that the Commission will be releasing the fresh dates of postponed exams only after lockdown restrictions are lifted completely from the country. The new dates would be out for SSC CHSL, SSC Junior Engineer, JE and stenographer exams that were to be conducted in the months when the lockdown was imposed.
