India addressed a UN meet on Tuesday countering Pakistan's repeated claims of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. Vijay Thakur Singh, Secretary East in the External Affairs Ministry said Pakistan's charges are concocted and false. She asserted that India's steps on Kashmir are legal and within the Constitution, calling it a sovereign decision and an internal matter for India. Without naming Pakistan, India said the world is aware that the fabricated narrative comes from the epicentre of global terrorism, where ringleaders are sheltered for years. And this country conducts cross border terrorism as a form of diplomacy. India further added that there is need to call out those who are misusing the UN platform for malicious political agendas under the garb of human rights. Earlier in the day, Pakistan demanded an international investigation by the UN Human Rights Council into the situation in Kashmir.
