Topic Description:
The Ordinance lays down guidelines for reservation of teaching positions in central educational institutions for applicants belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and socially and backward classes. The Ordinance mandates that while observing reservation of teaching positions, the university will be taken as one unit. This provision in the Ordinance overturns the judgement given by the Allahabad High Court which prescribed that each department in the university be taken as a unit.
