Topic Description:

The 107th Indian Science Congress concluded in Bengaluru on Tuesday. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu delivered the valedictory speech in which he emphasised on the leading role of science and technology in driving the economic and social development in India.

Earlier, while inaugurating the Science Congress on January 3rd, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also called for greater contribution from the scientific community and researchers in making India a $5 trillion economy by 2024.

The five-day event saw the presence of a galaxy of top scientists, Nobel Laureates, dignitaries and students from across the country and the world over.

Two Nobel Laureates - German physicist Stefan Hell and Israeli scientist Ada E Yonath also delivered public lectures at the Congress.

For the first time in 107 years of the Indian Science Congress, the Farmer’s Science Congress was also held highlighting the importance of farmer’s innovations and their scientific validity.

Besides, there were 28 plenary sessions on the various aspects of science discoveries and technologies.
