जीईएम (GeM)... यानि गवर्नमेंट ई-मार्केटप्लेस... सरकार की केंद्रीय ख़रीद में पारदर्शिता लाने और इसे लंबी प्रक्रिया से बचाने के लिए सरकार ने इस पोर्टल की शुरुआत की थी। इसके ज़रिए तमाम सरकारी विभाग अपनी ज़रूरतों से जुड़ा सामान टेंडर और विभागों के बीच फाइलों की लंबी दौड़ के बिना ख़रीद सकते हैं। केन्द्र सरकार ने अपने सभी विभागों के लिए इसे अनिवार्य कर दिया है। विशेष के इस अंक में गवर्नमेंट ई-मार्केटप्लेस की उपलब्धियों, इसकी दिक़्क़तों और इससे जुड़े तमाम पहलुओं पर बात की गई है।

Government e-Marketplace, or GeM, is the clone version of e-commerce sites like Amazon or Flipkart, but it exclusively caters the government procurement. GeM eventually offer hundreds of products such as laptop computers and photocopiers and services such as cab hiring and housekeeping to all the government departments. It has not only saved money but also time wasted in tendering process and quotations. Also this has been a transparent way for official purchase. In this episode we try to study the pros and cons of GeM, it’s achievements and drawbacks.
