After a five month dispute over the vote President Ashraf Ghani was declared winner in the Presidential election . However hours after this announcement Mr Ghani's leading challenger Abdullah Abdullah also declared himself the winner . This dispute over the election results comes just after a breakthrough in the protracted negotiations between the United States of America and Taliban in which both sides have arrived at a tightly choreographed peace plan.
