Four people were arrested by Scotland Yard as scores of protesters gathered outside the Indian High Commission in London for pre-planned protests and counter-demonstrations as India marked its 73rd Independence Day on Thursday. The situation witnessed a tense exchange between different groups. The anti-India protest, organised by Pakistani groups and Sikh and Kashmiri separatist outfits, was demarcated with metal barriers from a pro-India demonstration outside India House, during which placard-waving crowds disrupted the flow of traffic and chanted slogans. Indians and people of Indian origin gathered outside the Indian High Commission to celebrate the Independence Day were abused and pelted with eggs and water bottles by Pakistan-sponsored protesters, which included separatist Sikhs. The protests in London and elsewhere show how desperate Pakistan is after the India government abrogated certain sections of Article 370.
