IN NEWS

Indian Oil Corp (IOC), country’s largest fuel retailer announced the launch of India’s first remote monitoring system (RMS) for oil refineries’ turbines.

ABOUT

  • This project was inaugurated in Hyderabad by the Oil Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.
  • It is the joint venture of BHEL and General Electric (BHEL-GE Gas Turbine Service)
  • It was implemented for tracking Indian oil’s refinery Gas Turbines through Remote Monitoring and Operation Centre.
  • An Oil PSU implemented a multi-unit monitoring system for the first time in India.
  • At first the remote monitoring system was to be operated out of Atlanta Analytical Centre of GE in the United States however now it is being operated at Hyderabad because of National Cyber Guidelines and Data Residency Clause.
  • Proactive Predictive Analytics-based Automated Anomaly Detection technology is used in this system.
  • It digitally transmits Gas Turbine Operational Data of 27 turbines of eight Indian Oil refineries for 24-hour analysis in Hyderabad.
  • It will help to determine and discover emerging issues related to gas turbines before they are critical and take corrective actions. It will also steer clear of the refinery process unit shutdowns.
