Fifth meeting of BIMSTEC network policy think tanks BNPTT
On 21st December , Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) hosted Fifth meeting of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) network policy think tanks (BNPTT) to review and discuss the future roadmap. All the members of BIMSTEC participated in this meeting .
About BIMSTEC Network of Policy Think Tanks (BNPTT) :
The BIMSTEC Network of Policy Think Tanks was established subsequent to the decision taken at the Second BIMSTEC Summit which was held in New Delhi, India on 13 November 2008. The BNPTT was established in 2010 as a Track-II forum, comprising of Bimstec Members to promote the People-to-People Contact among BIMSTEC Member States:
The current members of the BNPTT are as follows:
- Bangladesh: Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD)
- Bhutan: Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies (RIGSS)
- India: Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS)
- Myanmar : Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS)
- Nepal: Centre for Economic Development and Administration (CEDA)
- Sri Lanka: Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS)
- Thailand: Indian Studies Center of Chulalongkorn University (ISCCU)
The First Meeting of the BIMSTEC Network of Policy Think Tanks was held in New Delhi, India from 18-19 February 2010.
The Second Meeting of the BIMSTEC Network of Policy Think Tanks was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 08-09 October 2015.
The Third Meeting was organised by RIS and BIMSTEC Secretariat on 27 September 2016 in New Delhi. The third meeting of the BNPTT deliberated on issues related to trade, investment and regional value chains; connectivity and people to people contacts; and BIMSTEC-BRICS cooperation and global governance.
The Fourth Meeting of the BIMSTEC Network of Policy Think Tanks (BNPTT) was held on 27-28 Decemebr 2018 in Thimphu, Bhutan .
