Swachh Survekshan 2021 Toolkit Launched

- Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), launched the toolkit for Swachh Survekshan 2021, the sixth edition of the annual cleanliness survey of urban India conducted by MoHUA.
ABOUT
- Every year, the Swachh Survekshan(SS) is redesigned innovatively, to ensure that the process becomes more robust, with focus on sustaining the behaviour change, the SS 2021 indicators focus on parameters pertaining to wastewater treatment and reuse along with faecal sludge.
- New category of awards launched by the name of ‘Prerak Dauur Samman’ as part of Swachh Survekshan 2021.The Prerak Dauur Samman has a total of five additional sub- categories -Divya (Platinum), Anupam (Gold), Ujjwal (Silver), Udit (Bronze), Aarohi (Aspiring) .
- Swachh Survekshan 2021 is the 6th edition of the annual urban cleanliness survey conducted by the Ministry
SWACHH SURVEKSHAN
- Swachh Survekshan is a ranking exercise taken up by the Government of India to assess rural and urban areas for their levels of cleanliness and active implementation of Swachhata mission initiatives in a timely and innovative manner.
- Since its launch in 2014, Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) has made significant progress in the area of both sanitation and solid waste management.
- 4324 Urban ULBs have been declared ODF (4204 certified ODF), 1306 cities certified ODF+ and 489 cities certified ODF++.
CONCLUSION
- Swachh Survekshan has caught the imagination of citizens and stakeholder alike and the increasing participation with every passing year is testimony to the way in which the citizens have taken complete ownership of the Swachhata of their cities.
- The survey has thus succeeded in fostering a spirit of healthy competition among towns and cities to improve their service delivery to citizens, towards creating cleaner, more habitable cities. Swachh Survekshan has today made ‘Swachhata’ a thing of motivation and pride – something to look forward to and aspire for.
Fit Hai to Hit Hai India
Why in NEWS ?
- Union HRD Minister and Sports Minister launched ‘Fit Hai to Hit Hai India’ under Fit India campaign for school children.
About
- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) also announced in April that it would launch a new series of fitness sessions for school going children in the Fit India Active Day program under this campaign.
- 13,868 schools affiliated to CBSE have participated in various Fit India programs and 11,682 schools have also received the Fit India flag.
- Move is directed to stay fit and motivate students to stay fit during pandemic since battle against this disease can be won only by staying fit.
- It will help incorporating fitness and healthy habits into the lives of students across the country.
Fit India Campaign
- Prime Minister on 29th August,2019 launched the ‘Fit India Movement’ as the People’s Movement & urged people to make fitness their lifestyle.
- Campaign aims to encourage people to inculcate physical activity and sports in their everyday lives.
- 29th August is celebrated every year as National Sports Day on the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand Singh to honour the legendary hockey player.
- On this Day, President confers the National Sports Awards, National Adventure Awards, Arjuna Award, Khel Ratna, Dronacharya Award and Dhyanchand Award to recognise and honour the eminent athletes from various sports.
