Scientists have discovered rocks marking the Snowball Earth moment on The Garvellach islands off the west coast of Scotland.

About it

•        The rocks were probably formed during the Sturtian Ice Age, one of the planet's most severe ice ages, which occurred between 662 and 720 million years ago.

•        Researchers believe these ancient rocks may mark the start of the Cryogenian period.
